I am pleased to announce that Northridge Skateland's Adult Night Reunion XV is official! It will take place on Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 7pm - 12am. Admission is $10; Skate Rental $5. Ages 16 & up, ID Required for admittance. The night's itinerary will be:
7pm: Session Begins
8pm: Couples
9pm: Backwards
9:45pm SHARP: Group Photo
10:30pm: Backwards
11:30pm: Couples
12am: Session Ends

If you're looking to try something new, check out the monthly Space Roller Disco. The Space Roller Disco is held every 4'th Saturday of the month. As always, it's a great event. If you’ve read my past reviews on the Roller Disco, you know it’s going to be a KICK-ASS event. Too many Afro wigs, glittered shirts, bell bottom pants and rainbow stockings to even count (ahhh, the 70's).
DJ Dennis & DJ Riley More will be on fire playing the most excellent mix of disco music. No, not that digital crap; they go "Old School" and hit us with the classic "vinyl". Yep, you heard me right. They will be spinning discs. For all you baby boomers, that means they will be playing and mixing actual vinyl records (LP's). And they most definitely kick ass! They will have that rink poppin'! Bonnie is the manager there and he's a great guy. You can also check out his collection of vintage roller skates and vintage cell phones.

Larry Leprose, the man that wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at
the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started...

I HAD AN INCIDENT AT MOONLIGHT ROLLERWAY IN GLENDALE THAT MADE ME FEEL LIKE "HANGING MY SKATES UP" .. I JUST DIDN'T FEEL LIKE TALKING ABOUT SKATING AND IN A WAY ACTUALLY HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO GO SKATING.. IT'S BEEN ABOUT MONTH OR TWO AND I WOULDN'T EVEN DISCUSS THIS BUT.. ALL IN ALL COMPARED TO SOME OF THE CURRENT HORRIFIC TRAGEDIES THAT ARE TAKING PLACE IN OUR WORLD I GUESS IT KINDA DIMINISHES THE PERSONAL IMPACT..MOONLIGHT ROLLERWAY LOST MY OLD PAIR OF 355s.. I SAY OLD BUT THEY WERE STILL GOOD BOOTS AND COMFORTABLE!! I CALLED THE RINK OWNER [818 241 3630] AT LEAST 15 TO 20 TIMES AND HE NEVER RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS.. ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO I CALLED THE RINK AND GOT THE OWNER ON THE PHONE..
HE TOLD ME HE WAS BUSY BUT HE WOULD CALL ME BACK IN 10 MINUTES.. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK NOT ONCE..
ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES LEFT ME THE FOLLOWING VOICE MAIL MESSAGE.. "OSCAR, I DON'T SEE WHY I HAVE TO WASTE 30 SECONDS OF MY PERSONAL CELL PHONE AIR TIME JUST TO CALL YOU.." I HAVE A 30 SECOND INTRO TO MY VOICE MAIL.. I CALLED THEM 15 TO 20 TIMES LONG DISTANCE [ FROM LANCASTER] AND HE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT A 30 SECOND INTRO!! I WANTED THEM TO GIVE ME $150.00 FOR MY $400.00 USED 355s.. THEY FIT ME LIKE A GLOVE.. THE DEAL THEY GAVE ME WAS, I WOULD GIVE THEM $150.00 FOR A PR OF BRAND NEW B395 REIDELLs SPEED/JAM SKATING BOOTS.. I KNOW THESE BOOTS COST $300 - $400 ON VARIOUS WEBSITES.. I ALSO KNOW THAT THESE BOOTS COST THE OWNER $180.00.. SO I DID GET A VERY GOOD PRICE BUT IT COST ME $150.00 AND BY THE OWNERS OWN ADMISSION IT ONLY COST THE OWNER $30.00.. THE GUY WHO LEFT ME THE "WHINNING CRY BABY VOICE MAIL" WAS SUPPOSE TO MOUNT THE B395s ON MY SNYDER IMPERIALS.. IT TOOK THEM ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO ORDER THE BOOTS..I WENT TO THE RINK PAID THE $150.00 PICKED UP THE BOOTS.. THE GUY SHOWED UP TO MOUNT THE BOOTS AND I TOLD HIM "YOU WON'T BE MOUNTING MY BOOTS" FRANKLY I FELT LIKE CHECKING HIM INTO THE WALL HOCKEY STYLE WITH OR WITHOUT SKATES.. I GOT MY NEW BOOTS AND SAID GOOD BYE TO ALL MY FRIENDS.. I JUST CAN'T PATRONIZE ANY BUSINESS THAT TREATS ME LIKE CRAP.. I SKATED AT THAT RINK 3 TO 5 DAYS A WEEK.. I PROMOTED THAT RINK ONLINE, AT OTHER RINKS AND ON THE STREET.. I CAN'T SPEND ANOTHER $$DIME$$ THERE.. I MISS MY FRIENDS VERY MUCH AND IT MAKES ME SAD.. BUT I AM SKATING AT ANOTHER RINK AND MAKING NEW FRIENDS.. I WILL NEVER SPEND ANY $$$ AT MOONLIGHT ROLLERWAY.. AND EVERY WHERE I GO I TELL SKATERS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME.. SOME SKATERS SAY THEY WON'T SKATE THERE AND OTHERS SAY THEY WON'T BUY ANY PRODUCTS OR SERVICES EITHER.. I KNOW A LOT OF SKATERS AND I KNOW I WILL HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THEIR BUSINESS.. I WOULD HAVE SPLIT THE COST $180.00.. I WOULD HAVE PAID $90 AND THE RINK SHOULD HAVE PAID $90.. I DIDN'T LOSE MY 355s THE RINK DID.. IN FACT I WAS TOLD CONFIDENTIALLY BY ONE OF THE STAFF THAT THE BOOTS WERE NEVER LOST.. THEY WERE THROWN AWAY!! AND THE OWNER KNEW THAT YET HE MAINTAINED THE "LOST STORY" IN ORDER TO STALL THE COST OF REPLACEMENT ."WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR THEM"..

Hey all,
I had a blast at the reunion. I wasnt going to go but I am so glad I forced myself to go. It was great seeing everyone that normally doesnt go on a regular basis. Denny's was a blast we havent had that much fun there in a long time. Pappy even got Marissa to be our waitress, & She still remembered what I like to drink. I'm taking a break from skating for a few months, so anyone who wants to chat... get my email add from pappy.
FYI... just letting everyone know that Oscar hasnt been around to his parents being sick & he's taking care of them 24/7. He sends his hello's to all of us.

well i joined a women's roller derby team..
i am learning to be a referee and currently working support staff as a PENALTY CHASER.
when a skater gets 4 minor penalties. i chase them down. call their number and whistle them off the track and send
them to the penalty box .
it's really awesome. i get to watch the bout from the infield track.
and these skaters are viscious. i think they eat their young.
i miss all my freaks on wheels brothers and sisters.. miss you all!!!

Hey Oscar, great to hear from you. Welcome to the Roller Derby family! I can tell you from a personal experience from skating 10 seasons with the L.A. had my first practice/scrimmage on the bank track
with the BIG boys tonight..
it was painful, i think cuz the track is banked.
it produces more down force. i got cramps in my arches.
i asked if this was normal and the vets said yes.
i took blocks, forearms to the chest, single whips,
double whips and spinning whips.
working my way thru the pack and jamming around the track.
i'm learning a lot from the T-BIRD franchise skaters.
i learned a lot from all of the BRGs skaters, coaches
and refs too. i'm very grateful for thier patience and expertise.
how grateful you may ask..??
well during a jam. i clipped another skaters wheels.
tripped and fell face and chest first.
and as i am falling i kept praying and saying to myself.
"MAKE SMALL MAKE SMALL" as i am hearing skates fly
over me and beside my head. hehehehehe.
oh yeah!!! i want MORE!!!
then we all went out and ate fast food crap...hehehehe. ..

Ran into Louie the other night. Cant believe seeing old friends after 30 years. So many fond memories with all my girlfriends...Faith, Jennifer, Carla & Darla....what happened to the bad boys?
